Centuries-old gardens and cobblestone laneways live in perfect harmony with soaring skyscrapers and dazzling neon lights. Get immersed in an unrivalled dining scene, fashionable boutiques, and endless cultural encounters in this ever-evolving city. Make the most of your morning before your transfer to the cruise terminal for check in formalities, followed by embarkation on the beautiful Celebrity Millennium.

On your first sea day, you will have the opportunity to discover and make use of the varied facilities on board.

Kobe is the city on the north shore of Osaka Bay in central Japan, known for its signature marbled beef and scenic setting of mountains framing the harbor. You will be arriving around 08:00hrs and will have the rest of the day to discover this beautiful place since the ship will overnight in Kobe. It is a must to visit the Port Tower, completed in 1963, the 354-foot-tall, red steel-latticework tower has become the city’s most iconic landmark.

See Osaka, Japan’s second largest city, and home to beloved historic sites, plus ancient weaponry and relics displays. Begin at Osaka Castle, built in the 16th century by Toyotomi Mideyoshi, the warlord who then controlled Japan, it offers extensive displays of weapons, armour, and folk life relics of that era. Then visit ancient Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. Tour Osaka Castle, the city’s magnificent 16th-century gold and white landmark. The castle has undergone rebuilds and several renovations and the tower is now entirely modern inside and a museum, but retains its external citadels, gates, stone walls and moats. As you wander through each floor, you’ll be introduced to Japan’s ancient and modern history and culture. Enjoy the observation deck that offers a panoramic view of the city. Next, stroll through the Dotonbori district, a must-see for visitors to Osaka. Here you can experience the city’s well-known reputation as a foodie’s paradise. The streets are crowded with restaurants, bars, and street-food stalls.

Explore Kyoto, the capital of Japanese culture. Sitting atop Mount Kiyomizo is
Kiyomizo-dera temple. Head inside for a guided tour after soaking in the magnificent panoramic view of Kyoto city. Visit the famous Golden Pavilion, one of Japan’s most popular attractions. And don’t miss the gorgeous mirror reflection of the temple on the still pond in the garden - it’s one of the most stunning scenes you’ll ever see. Get to know this brilliant, vibrant city. Visit Nijo castle which is a part of world heritage. History and architect buffs will relish a tour of Nara and Kyoto’s ancient temples and shrines. In Nara, pass through torii gates to 768 AD-constructed Kasuga-Taisha Shrine and examine the unique roof, brilliant vermillion and green halls. Todaiji-temple in Nara Park is famous for its great Buddha.

The capital of Kochi Prefecture on the southern coast of Shikoku is small, friendly, and boasts several attractions of interest to travelers. Make sure to enjoy some Katsuo no tataki, Kochi’s most famous dish, and visit the temple and botanical garden at Mt Godaisan.

While paying tribute to the infamous nuclear attack that destroyed the city in 1945, Hiroshima is now defined as a beacon of peace and prides itself on its exceptional natural beauty. See more than 300 cherry blossom trees in bloom at Peace Memorial Park, journey to the breathtaking Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island, and take time to sample “okonomiyaki”—a delicious example of Japanese soul food.

While at sea, take the time to recharge before the next adventure. Lounge by the pool, be spoiled at the spa, taste the delicacies or explore the venues on-board, until we arrive at the next amazing destination.

South Korea’s tropical island paradise will enchant you with its sandy beaches, swaying palm trees and amazing volcanic landscape. Need a break from your beach towel? Waterfalls, museums, folk villages, scuba diving, hiking and festivals galore will keep you busy. Explore the colourful coral and sea life with a scuba dive off the coast of laid-back Seogwipo. Take an underground stroll through the world’s longest lava-tube cave at Manjanggul.

Kagoshima is the southernmost city on Japan’s bullet train network and the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture. The city is often compared with its Italian sister city, Naples, due to a similarly mild climate, streets lined with palm trees, and Sakurajima, Kagoshima’s version of Vesuvius. Near port, find the fascinating Kagoshima aquarium, traditional Senganen Japanese gardens, museums, the Shiroyama mountain-top park with a view over the city, and Yakushima Island, a registered world heritage site. Plus, an abundance of hot springs, mud baths, and spas to promote serenity and relaxation.

Today shall be another day at sea and so another day to relax and unwind!

On clear days, Mount Fuji (Fuji-san in Japanese) is visible from as far as Tokyo, 60 miles away. When Japan’s highest mountain is capped with snow, it’s a picture-postcard perfect volcanic cone. One of the best-known symbols of Japan, this iconic mountain has been considered sacred since ancient times and was even forbidden to women until the early 1900s.
